If we pause to think of our blessings held dear
We will be reminded of holiday cheer
The time spent with family and friends whom we love
And the wondrous gifts given from God above
While praising the beautiful sky, overhead
We’ll recount our fortune of being well fed
Thankful for the things that make our lives worth living
We’ll stop to consider them all, this Thanksgiving.
The roof and the walls that we have made a home
And all of the memories that endlessly roam
The talks we have shared beside the firelight
The warmth we have felt from its flames burning bright
The coins in our wallets; the love in our souls
The knowledge of having pursued chosen goals
With the warmest tidings that Thanksgiving brings
We’ll always remember our lives’ simple things.
The smile or a wave from the child down the street
The moments of silence which make life complete
The little birds singing in their special way
The rainbow which forms on a dark, somber day
The beauty that comes from welcoming the sun
And knowing another day in life is begun
On Thanksgiving, we pause to embrace our lives’ worth
By offering thanks for our blessings on earth.

I have much to be thankful for: my health (such as it is; at least I'm not in the hospital like I was last year at this time; even spent Thanksgiving in the hospital; couldn't even have turkey and all the trimmin's because I'd just gotten off tube feedings; I was on liquids), my family, my God-given gifts as a writer, my relationship with God, and the fact that He's always with me, even in times of strife/trouble. I am indeed grateful.
Thanks for this bequtiful reminder! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
