Special Elf

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem about a special and generous elf who, through hard work and determination, made her way to the top.

Poem Artwork

I know an elf that spreads goodwill
Down every road she roams
She has many tasks to fulfill
Before Santa greets homes
With toys to build and dolls to dress
You’d think this elf would mourn
But, aiding in Santa’s success
Is why this elf was born.

You see, she’s not a normal elf
The kind with funny shoes
She took the time to prove herself
She, slowly, paid her dues
Now, she is found among the ranks
Of Santa’s very best
An elf that owes a debt of thanks
To those who helped her quest.

She never thought she’d be around
The rare and chosen few
Who make the bells and whistles sound
For a child’s dream come true
But, she works hard, both day and night
In shifts throughout the year
Her purpose is to spread delight
Through love and Christmas cheer.

I know a very humble elf
Whose heart is made of gold
She never thinks of just herself
And gives to young and old
She does not ever strive to be
An elf of high accord
Filling a child’s heart with glee
Is her greatest reward.
