Our First Date

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

Since Valentine's Day is approaching and many couples will be going on their first dates to commemorate the holiday, I share this poem for those needing a "post-date" thank you.

Poem Artwork

Our first date was quite ideal
Sweet and friendly, yet surreal
From our quiet time to talk
To our slow, casual walk
Our first meeting was not wronged
Since we found what we had longed
For the chance to let hope soar
So, we could not want for more.

Our first date was pure perfection
Something worthy of reflection
As we travel throughout time
We’ll view that day as sublime
Our first lunch and our first dance
Should they lead us to romance
Will forever etch our souls
As the time we reached our goals.

Thank you for a splendid meal
Words cannot state how I feel
I was humbled by your care
When you held the door and chair
The whole scene was really great
To meet again, I cannot wait
I hope our lunch, while fresh and new
Will lead to more time spent with you.

A divine and cosy poem.
Indeed your poems always are from a gentle heart...

Jill,

I don't know why you don't get the reviews you so richly deserve - no one pens poetry more beautifully than you - poetry you can feel - this is no exception. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
