Love Yourself

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem about always respecting and honoring yourself, even when dark hours come into your life.

Poem Artwork

Your heart may be lost; your faith may be depleted
Your mind and your spirit may now seem defeated
But I know, one day – one brilliant new tomorrow
You’ll soar from these hours marred by regret and sorrow
You’ll rise from the ashes, without hesitation
Basking in the glory of God’s own creation
On that day, you’ll realize your essence is strong
And able to carry you where you belong.

Right now, in the darkness, life seems rather lonely
The future seems tailor-made for others, only
But, in a mere instant, the stars will align
And you will discover that you will be fine
The beauty you’ve longed to behold will be near
No more will your heart be subjected to fear
On that day, you’ll find every dream is in view
As others take note of the joy found in you.

Your heart may be burdened; you may seem neglected
Your mind and your spirit may not seem respected
But I know, one day – one bright dawn to come
You’ll realize how much you still matter to some
You’ll rise from the sadness and waltz towards the sun
As beautifully as when your life was begun
That day, you will know you’ve found peace from afar
The moment you love yourself for who you are.
