This poem was written in memory of Roland “Tony” Carnaby of Houston. Tony was a kind-hearted man, loved by his family and friends; his loss was tragic and he will be sorely missed.

In Memory of Roland “Tony” Carnaby
(November 24, 1955- April 29, 2008)
On this day, we light a candle
For a patriot we’ve lost
A dear friend, God’s newest angel
Who paid the ultimate cost
You were, indeed, a selfless hero
Someone special, kind and rare
Your compassion for your country
Was a gift beyond compare.
You were known for your charisma
Your nobility and grace
And the pain felt in your passing
Is something time won’t replace
Throughout your great life of duty
You always gave from your heart
Your flare for embracing others
Is what set your soul apart.
This candle shall burn forever
In your esteemed memory
Our thoughts of you will leave us never
Evermore, our hearts shall grieve
For the treasured man of courage
We respected, praised and loved
Who now rests amid God’s chosen
In Heaven’s walls, above.
