An Angel’s View

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem inspired by Breast Cancer Awareness month and all of the pre-race and race festivities for Susan G. Komen's Houston chapter, this past week.

Poem Artwork

Upon the stars, above the clouds
An angel looked towards earth
She eyed a sight to make all proud
So right and full of worth
From south to north and shore to shore
The world joined arms as one
Bound by a prayer that evermore
Has fueled our pledge to run
The angel wiped a simple tear
As friends and families jogged
Upon the roadways, far and near
Hope marked each mile logged
Lives stirred to act for common good
Hearts moved with sheer delight
Their purpose clearly understood
To never quit the fight
Upon the stars, through Heaven’s gate
An angel’s smile beamed
She knew that others dealt her fate
Would find their lives redeemed
Thanks to the caring hearts that race
So selflessly and sure
Promising one day we'll erase
Breast cancer with a Cure!

Breast cancer, or any other type of cancer is not a good thing. I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy. I know how to look for the lumps, and I have a mammogram once a year. I cannot run for the cure, but I can empathize and hope that a cure is found to wipe out all cancer for good. Your message has been delivered to the hearts that care, and mine is such a heart, but with my heart problems I cannot run or walk that far any more. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and walk by your side. With love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister Barbie.

Hi, Jill,
I re-read your Poetic Home for Rent poem before this one. I had just sent my college granddaughter Allie some of my poems about poetry, including Poetic Home--Not for Rent, so I wanted to read your challenge poem again.

This is so well-done. It's beautifully touching and inspiring. The perspective from the "angel" makes it come to life.
