“Real man
Seeks Real woman…” announces his ad

Poem Artwork

So you like my photo, eh?
Awww…
You make me blush
Hunh?  You wanna chat?
Sure, we could do that
What?
When’s the last time I had sex?
Well, hello to you too!
What say you?
You want to fondle my breasts?
Yeah,
You would say that
Would you say that
If you knew
My father fondled ‘em too?
Yep,
I’ve got issues
Plenty of ‘em
I’m as real as it gets
Wanna hear about ‘em?
Nah, didn’t think so…
You’re too busy for that
Busy,
Pretending I’m Barbie
And you’re Ken
Or Superman
Imagining you’re gonna
Save me
Save me from myself
Ha!
That’s funny…
You. Superman
Flying about in some metaphorical cape
Cape Fear
Fear of men likeYou
That’s where I live
Why don’t ‘cha come visit me sometime
Here
Here, where I live
In the land of the disenchanted
In the land of the disillusioned
In the land of fairytales
“Fairytales can come true ,
it can happen to you…”
Yeah, right
Bullshit
Bullshit
Bullshit
You’ve stepped on my last nerve,
Damn it
Call me when you’re real

Powerful and poignant words here, Tami. You have a way of telling your story in a very matter-of-fact way that draws the reader down the page and leaves him begging for more. Great work!

Reminds me of an obscene phone call I got one time. I kept asking the fellow to repeat himself, that I couldn't hear him. After about five tries, instead of a breathy voice he was screaming and finally hung up on me. That's the best way to discourage them...having them to repeat. ROFL

Powerful and realistic view, Tami. You have put emphasis on your strengths and the BS back onto the fools who fail to respect a woman for what she can potentially be. Well done.

I remember reading this poem before. I'm not sure if you've edited but the gist and the mood of the poem remains. Some may see it as an emotional poem, I see it as empowering and strong. You've been dealt many blows in your life but you've become a stronger, more resilient person. Yes, those scars remain but there ain't nobody gonna mess wid you. I'm proud of you precious friend.

Angry exudes from this poem and rightfully so ~ It's a frightening reality ~

After reading this poem, I was drawn to read it again and again ~
Raw emotions and scars from the past echo throughout.
Not only could I feel her needs and disappointment but also her anger ~

He hovered pretentiously ~ human flesh
She ached for a tender reality that was not there (something he was incapable to give)
Anger, underlying pain, and a flicker of Hope.

The two lines that hit home ~
"I’m as real as it gets...
Fear of men like You"

This is very powerful Tami ~ you have captured a sad reality!
Well done!
