He stared into the deep cold water
Trying to forget the sound
A body makes when it is sinking
Bricks tied so it won't be found

He wished those eyes would stop their staring
From the depths into his own
Holding his head he still could hear her
Laughing as he stood alone

The constable found a man floating
In the river late last night
He said he heard a woman's laughter
From a bend that's out of sight

Who this man was or where he came from
No one knew within the town
There was just one who came to view him
Seemed she smiled as she looked down
