Poem Artwork

Maverick These things always make my heart glad; When I receive that first hug When we play a game, and Mav lets me win The first time he said, “luv you Pappy”- swelled a lump in my throat, as a salty tear welled up Watching Mav hit the T-ball and play 2nd base with excitement and fervor Taking funny pictures with him Sitting together on the couch, watching his favorite cartoons Mav showing me where his mom hid the cookies this time Watching Mav get excited as we play with his Dinosaurs and Avengers - - I give him a dollar so he can add to his cash box So, when it’s time to leave and I get that one last hug… as I pull away- Mav is still watching from the top of the driveway till I’m out of sight… makes my heart sad. Pappy

I know you love the experience. I don't have children so there are no grandchildren in my future. That's okay. Whenever I run into small children, they are always curious about me. And that's nice.

Such a precious poem! When your grandson learns to read he will understand how much you love him.
