Young love is a passionate thing. The passion will burn out but if you truly one someone you find that when the passion becomes less a factor the intimacy of having a friend who has been with you every step of the way through life becomes more comforting and yes, less demanding. Do not fear love and allow it to grow. Like a seed planted in the ground it is a miracle to watch it grow.
Boy meets girl and they fall in love.

With his kisses he worships her… his heart out of great love dances.
Her feelings for him are a reflection of his own.
One day they will be married and shall never be alone.
Their love will grow from infatuation to friendship.
That is why they will stand together even in times of hardship.

But understand that one day it will not be the same.
The fires will dwindle to a slow burning ember.
But those passionate days will be there to remember.

Enjoyed this one, too, Lew. Somehow I don't think you have lost that special spark. Now, my friend, I gotta tell you, I celebrated my birthday last Saturday. My hubby surprised me with the card he sent: "I know I'm not perfect, and I may not always know the best way to say or show how much I care, but the truth is really pretty simple--I love you and I'm so glad you're mine." Ahhh, melted my heart it did. Not to mention the thrills up and down my spine...and that is after nearly 33 years of marriage! :)

Wow, reading upon this only forges a deep burrow into this past week...My 16 year old daughter broke up with her boyfriend, only he wouldn't accept the fact that she is young and isn't ready for what ever he was ready for. To make a long story short, I had to get the police involved to keep him from stalking her every move...scary!
I guess the young love though that you talk of here, in this beautiful write is more like the newly married, or close to being, the honeymoon wears off and the truest of love begins to grow!
...and yes, oneday they will understand!

How sweet and how true, for relationships do grow in stages, my husband and I were friends before we ever went on one date, he was actually my brothers best friend, and then we became friends, even fixed each other up on blind dates, we went out the first time as an emergency date because we neither one had a date and my best friend was going out with his best friend, well the rest is history and now nearly twenty nine years later here we are, goat farm, two children, two grandchildren and still all the love and passion required to keep the love alive between to friends who are still in love! Great write!

Sounds like a boring relationship that's missing quite a lot of passion. In true love, passion never dies. There's alot of senior couples out there who are still "in love" and share their passion in a pysical sense. And in that sense, some who sing the praises of Viagra :)
