Oh for the days when these old bones didn't ache and I could hip-hop and bebop all the night long.

Poem Artwork

Hear the music? Pick up on the beat.
We’re havin’ a ball. Oh isn’t it sweet
We did the bebop, the fox trot
Dig that Chick, Man isn’t she hot?
I loved to watch her do the tango, the rumba as she swings and sways
And I loved to watch the dancers in those beautiful ballets
This takes this poor old man on a journey to yesterday
The beat goes on and the music plays
She skips and frolics, twists and twirls
One can get caught up in simply watching these beautiful girls
There is nothing more beautiful than her waltzing around
Me in my tuxedo and her in a long white gown
Oh the memories of those days when we would hoedown
We used to love to boogie and jiggle and wiggle
I’d give her a stare as she twirled, making her giggle
Let’s dance… dance… dance… dance
The music swings and we sing and step out and advance
Those ballads were an invitation to waltz slow and stress-free
How I loved it. Holding her soft body close to me
