I don't want to think about what would have happened if we had never met.

Poem Artwork

If we had never met—

my world would be a grayer place.

Spring flowers would not bloom without

the rays of sunlight from your face.

If we had never met—

and roamed the San Diego zoo,

the animals would feel a lack,

and there would not be me and you.

If we had never met—

and ventured on our honeymoon

to many wonders in the west,

the birds’ songs would be out of tune.

If we had never met—

our son would not have come to be,

to grace our lives with wisdom, wit,

and happiness for you and me.

If we had never met—

and traveled near and traveled far,

the continents would rumble and

the light would dim on every star.

If we had never met—

our grandsons wouldn’t run and play,

and golf and skate and act and sing,

and brighten up a dreary day.

If we had never met—

and I were living on my own,

I’d conjure you to fill the void—

for I am nothing all alone.

This is the sweetest poem. It would look beautiful on a Hallmark card. Your wife is one lucky woman.
