Ideas to "Save the world" haven't worked. It seems we are more vulnerable than ever.

Poem Artwork

Look back in time and you’ll see
Plan to “save the world” every day,
Is replaced by another entry,
Structured the same flawed way.

Plans blossom from human desire,
Yet bear fruit that quickly rots,
Real trophies none acquire —
War’s’ end seeds greater plots.

Efforts to stem poverty mostly fail,
Feeding the hungry, a treadmill —
Recursively larger population scale
Makes mountain of previous mole hill.

While feverish greenhouse gasses
Threaten to cross tipping threshold,
Where point-of-no-return passes,
Runaway heating loop takes hold.

Repeating duplicate failures,
Is common definition of insanities.
Need wholly new architectures —
Out-of-box, sans old affinities.

So here is a four point design,
That can’t be any worse
Than old ideas from cloud nine,
That promise all, render inverse.

1. Soviet Central Planning failed.
People’s decisions work best
When self-interest is availed —
Real values — the litmus test.

Stop taxing people’s income:
Tax consumption and change attitudes,
Accept market force outcome,
Not House Committee ineptitudes.

2. Unblock use of energy that’s clean,
Protective tariffs, mine for gold,
Critical need for going green,
Puts business-as-usual on hold.

Nuclear power, morality forbids,
With costs borne after benefit use,
Eat plums, will pits to the kids,
Radioactive heritage of debt and abuse.

3. U.S. foreign aid no winner,
Propagates arms sales to foes,
Adds mouths to share dinner —
Just the way U.S. F. A. goes.

Change priority of dollars abroad —
Teach real family values:
Corrective planning, we applaud,
Most beneficial of family virtues.

4. Progress will go for naught,
If human numbers increase,
Parents need lessons taught,
On what’s fair, when to cease.

Propagating more than is fair,
Is exercising greed, a pitfall,
For a fair resource share
Is implicitly deserved by “all.”

If “all” shrinks, rationally,
Quotient becomes larger share,
And erase poverty nationally,
Make the whole world aware.

Fairness isn’t for humans alone.
If wildlife’s homes are appropriated,
Their lives — fact well known —
Are doomed — habitat confiscated.

But their loss is not our gain,
In fact, it’s yet another menace,
For ecology is a linked chain —
An interdependent life embrace.

Without other animals alive,
Our acts kill regenerative spark
From which, breath we derive —
 Survival — the question mark!

Four point plan offers salvation.
Planned parenthood is the key —
This cure for our nation,
Will set the world free.

Well thought and full of proposals, but life is what it is. Though many say we can learn from history, sadly few pay much attention and mankind will continue to muddle through.....

Be always safe,
Karen

This composition is set on platinum plate... a scroll to humanity written with a diamond stylus.

I salute You, Poet.

You have been on a tear lately, Leland . . . Going for the jugular, eh . . . I agree with some of your proposals, not enough to come over to your camp, however . . .

So incredibly true, and so strongly presented. A remarkably fine poem.

A good plan. Poverty breeds offspring breeds ignorance breeds poverty and environmental destruction. A die back could occur before the tipping point. But would sanity prevail over anarchy?

Dearest Leland, sorry, but I must give
my opinion, though you have some excellent
theories,you acknowledge mans lack of
forsight. To me your arguement is specious
since your plan leaves God out. Though man
may help himself, he can't save himself, that
is Creator's role, therefore without him our
concepts are doomed to failure. There is a
scripture that says, "Unless the Lord builds
the house,it is built in vain !"

Love and hugs,
ET

Leland,

Thought provoking excellence, well done. Whatever happened to taking care of our own? We are the world's police, and our backyard is being over-run, going into ruin ...

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

Democratic Dilemmas and Divine Inspiration (A Kindle Short) by Aberjhani

Democratic Dilemmas and Divine Inspiration examines the significance or relevance of the idea that the U.S. Constitution was, as many believe, divinely inspired. How much did that belief matter to founders of the nation and how much does it matter no
