OnePoetGem's "One Kiss" inspired telling of this true tale.

Poem Artwork

Happy-hour helps call it a day

When you’re single and alone,

A good place to while time away,

And reminisce of days all gone.

Laugh and joke and throw a dart,

Eat pretzels, down some beers,

Visit the sumptuous food cart --

Libations and joyous cheers.

But losing time’s a practiced art,

Time to hit the road’s come to be.

And now here’s the inevitable part,

Short of home, I”VE GOT TO PEE!

The Holiday Inn’s just down the street,

With restroom — I know where it’s at.

Made it! Wow! An incredible feat.

Bar’s on the way out — imagine that!

I’m sipping a beer, atop a tall stool,

Chatting with a friend of this and that,

When he says, “Meet someone cool?”

At her table I shook her hand, sat.

She was from N.H., Florida bound,

Stopped in Virginia, friends to see.

Liked what I saw, got the next round.

“Would you like to dance? I’m free.”

“Yes, let’s dance”. And that was it.

Her romances’d not been good,

Mine had in no way been a fit,

For change, were in the mood.

Got her things, home we went,

We’ve danced in tune ever since.

Soul-mates, and heaven sent,

Through all the years hence.

I’d never have married this Ms.,

My mate with her lifetime appeal,

If I’d not stopped in to take a whiz,

And found true love in the deal!

Life has its own sense of humor, and sometimes of romance. Seldom both simultaneously. A fun, delightful poem!

I'd advise you not to pick up broads in bars.... On the other hand, what a delightful story of true love at first start. Or was that the first stop.

I'm sure you may have heard of the couple on their first date -- a day trip into the mountains to ski. Returning that evening, the weather is extremely cold but she HAS TO GO. He stops and she leans against the front fender to assist in her endeavor. Her skin immediately freezes to the cold metal. She yells for help. They soon agree they need warm liquid to thaw her skin, but the only warm liquid within miles is in his bladder. He empties it on her and this remedies the problem. All's well that ends well, though, and they later are married and have a rather unique story to tell.

Well, now, that's a different "how we met" story, very well done, Leland!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
