(a bit tongue in cheek;-)

~*~

Who weeps for me, none but the owl
doth screech my pain in vain, for
I am left once more in my boudoir
alone, unfed, unloved, but well  bled
waiting for he who is not  around
the enigma who gets lost, and can't
be found, who is sometimes like the
beast who goes to ground~

I weep looking out at the haloed  moon

Where is the man of the hour, nowhere
in this vicinity is he,  aloof, alas ,alack,
somewhere on his back, but not with me
another she? who can it be, none that
I know, perhaps none at all for he does
fall into the category of neanderthal
and loves to hide in his cave of dreams
leaving reality to the sunbeams~

I weep looking out at the haloed  moon

Wherefore art thou O wolf of wonder
that howls under the haloed moon and
all too soon you seek what I have to give,
but only when you decide, until then you
like to hide, under the guise of surprise
but I must be ready at all times to receive
your elusive desire, even though I may
have lost my fire, waiting while you were,
I know not where, but my dear, it wasn't  here!

I weep looking out at the haloed  moon

etw~

Me thinks the lady has a sense of humor! Well done, Eileen. The text and intended meaning go hand in hand. I liked this a lot!

I wonder, if Shakespeare had captured Juliet in a different mood, he might have been tempted to write HER describing Romeo in these ways and as her "wolf of wonder"... well, no... on second thoughts, perhaps he did that one with Katherine The Shrew! :)) There's certainly no "taming" going on here though, Eileen: either of this yearning heart or of the shy and elusive nocturnal creature of choice... Classic balladic tragedy wrung with sighs. Atmospheric, too. xx

A dreamlike poem that take us inside a foggy night with howling ghost and sorrowful wolves and a moon up there white cold like a queen sucking herself full of plebe admiration.
The Bard would have nod his approval.

Eileen,
The one-line refrain/motif has such impact and complements the stanzas of disappointment, loss, regret, jealousy, all those emotions competing; and never worry about losing your fire, it burns bright, very bright and we enjoy the heat and glow.

Eileen,

Got lost in that photograph, first of all - looks like the moon, but could be an eye -

Second, you speak of a deep pain, of longing, so believeably, the reader has to wonder if this is your life - a hallmark of an expert writer. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
