by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

Simple morning blessing

Poem Artwork

The Dove did coo
Thy morning love call
Amid dawning shadows
Calm did feather sounds
Amidst balm quill mists
Happy tears did flow so.

Doves are beautiful, like this poem.

Just looked out and saw three doves feeding in the backyard. Such peaceful creatures. I love their mournful calls of love one another, especially in the morning like your poem.

I zoned out for a moment, and then saw the white and black spotted cat that routinely roams the yard come out from behind the fence. The doves were gone, their peaceful feeding interrupted.
