Open Mic Voices

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

I find it hard to find that Poetry can threaten American Upper Class culture. That as a Veteran, I use it for therapy that my former employers wanted and demanded, I quit writing 24/7.

I use poetry, as a healing process to get things deep inside, into the open, so I can be freed of the burden.

I should tear my poetry up or burn it, letting the flames release me further. But for some reason, I let others see my Vet UniVerse, so they maybe can also release the War Wrath After Math.

Daily I am put in an American Invisible Prison, where like a Chinese Democratic Poet, one is censored in various forms of retribution. I get only VA calls and few friends, and I have been made American Invisible.

This is a Free Speech Rant in therapeutic healing. I donot exist.

Even if I look like Ben, I do not have Veteran Patriot Rights.

I vented a super rant terse hear. I heal with words while politicians are pained by them

Open Mic Voices

Hear yea America wail,

Where We the People rail.

We have these failed US - Politicians

To Be our neighborhood morticians.

Officials legislate voting registration

Into governmental voter discrimination.

Where wealth’s minority becomes majority,

When those affluent, overcome vote poverty.

Millionaires have built this Invisible Wall

Where billionaires, pay no taxes, amass sprawls

They feed off America, using special loopholes

Need for graft, as elicit leeches, greed filled bankrolls.

Poli-Morticians want to use sharp trump golf cleats

Being these horrific super tax evading cheats.

God, what has America become, in their spite

When they run over US, with sharp spikes.

Resigned to be the one, they trample over

No one assigned to step up to plate – leftover

America left without any viable Open Mic Voice

Mute deaf blind we be patriot followers Voiceless.

Poverty will always be, the Popular Vote plurality,

To Be Overwritten by College Electoral select Fraternity.

Republican Christian Conservatives pay no Caesar taxation

Progressives stay inside mansion campaign fund relaxation.

Corporate Pied Pipers have raided civilian run governance

Yes God, there is no Civil America, only Corp Government.

Hail the power Oligarchy, captal punishment Corporatocracy

Ben Franklin said, we would - from within, destroy Democracy.

This poet Terminated for Poetry knows the cost of Free Speech.

New York Times, Washington Post know the cost of Free Press.

When those, like Gandhi, MLK; who promote Civil Liberties statements

Meet assassin fates, within hatred and bigotry - bullet treatments.

This poet has no voice, no relevancy, but has a DD214 inheritance creed.

Where the quill inside a core being in a Declaration of Independence deed.

God, let me write within my own Home Sweet Home my Free Verse.

When eagle talons nail fiber chords reins in Wars after math Free Terse.

Daily destroyed devastation depressions, infest ingrained need for expressions

That those within Government label unpatriotic, who rule in tyrant impressions

We  must silence our Free Speech Press Poetry in vile wrought brought oppression

Wham Bam, Thank You For Your Service – THS Graduation - Vietnam lifetime long –

Poet Tree suppression. I have No Voice and will never be heard American relevant.

Every revolution starts with a still, small voice. When that voice rings true, the wheels of revolution began to grind and change happens. Today it is happening at Internet speed. When some injustice is found to happen somewhere and is posted online, if that injustice is great enough, it immediately incites a riot of viewers and comments exposing what lies under the clothing of transparency. The word is viral and viral creates change without bloodshed and rancor.

You, small poet, can start a bloodless revolution to correct the ills you see in government. So shout out loud, open mic or not.

I don't know how your employer can tell you not to write poetry on your own time. They have no rights to demand that of you. We all write for reasons of our own and no one can silence us. Rant away, my friend!
