Autumn's Spring
By La Belle Rouge

once his hands were smooth
and soft was the beard upon his face
of years and women he was unlearned

his lips were unlined and hesitant
to capture or unleash the passion of hers
and she thought “is this all there is”
in her secret soul she longed for more

and wondered about men who kindle fires
with deep kisses and shared breath
like a warm cyclone within a woman’s lungs
until she is breathless with desire

to feel the fingered caresses of flame
on feminine flesh and lips and tongue
that took what treasure they might lust for

she grew old in her wonderings
and yet did she still imagine fire kisses
and breathless sighs of pleasure

breath and souls that blended
hearts that knew no retreat
and bodies that knew no distance

and still she wondered of love’s ways
in all its rapturous delights
given intensely and without fear

in her autumn came spring’s first day
answering her circling questions
with a gentle, but powerful
knock on her bolted door

and suddenly winter seemed
distant, unimportant and impotent
in the warmth of impending summer
out of season but not out of reach

when loves comes knocking at our door we have no choice but to open it ... when we do, its approaching vision seasons our heart and its warmth brazens the love found within it ...

And don't you just looooooooooooove a rich, fruity Indian Summer?? Especially if it comes early! Beautiful sentiments here, Belle, and is a powerful reminder that full-blown and mature love that unexpectedly materialises is as lush and potent at any time and season of life as it is in it's first tender prime... if not more so, like the finest of wine.
