are tedious and empty when we’re apart

the longer we wait
the tighter our ties

the greater our patience
the deeper our bond

the longer our kisses are delayed
the hotter our fire burns

frightened i won’t be the one you seek
and yet knowing i must be
i wait for the touch of your hand

for the circle of your arms
for the sweetness of your kiss

am i the one you’ve searched for?
have i found you at last, My Love?

treasure buried in the fields of my heart
i can only pass from my lips to yours
you can only possess in the
beat of our hearts against each other

i want to receive your love
and give you mine in a peaceful place
in a world known only to us

yes, i confess, it was i
taking my liberty
to invade your thoughts, your bed

the longer we wait
the more real we become
you think of me now, at the most
inopportune and intimate moments

always reaching out to me
and finding me, just as i find you,
only a thought away
