Lay Thee Down
By La Belle Rogue

A Sonnet Of Love

Many’s the gale we’ve weathered well
On many a dark, tumultuous sea.
Deep wounds upon our hearts have failed
To end their beating wild and free.
We are no strangers to hunger nor cold
No silver spoons given to you and me.
We’ve fought for life, bravehearts and bold
On bloody land and raging sea.
Now lay thee down next to me for a time
Come rest your brave heart close to mine.

Many are the nights you’ve longed for me
For soft breasts to cushion your sleep.
Lonely but only for what was and is to be
Between us when violet shadows creep.
When only sounds of night creatures
Keep company with your heart...
Upon your dreams are etched my features.
Neither death nor distance will keep us apart.
So lay thee down, Love, and rest a while
Find your peaceful place within my smile.

And when you’ve rested well at last
And lust’s fire burns deep in your loins
Let the past be dead and passed
When our souls and bodies join.
Destiny is what it is. There is no unrest
In familiar kisses and love reborn
With bare chest pressed to breasts.
So come, Love, lay beside me once more
All the world locked outside our door.

Perception of my cast Xena-like Catherine Deneuve/Mel Gibson/Xena/Vin Diesel in stereophonic surround sound at the IMAX theatre, the red velvet curtains part, Lay Thee Down projects on the screen, the credits roll slowly, screenplay by La Belle Rouge...a romantic braveheart epic that is so very visual...erotic romance is your genre, La Belle...wonderful writing like this captures what romance is intended to be...
