If favored by fate at last
the minstrels played...just for us
we’d share that dance...all night

You could tell me everything
or whisper nothing at all but “I love you”

You are no man of dark mystery to me
My Familiar Friend, My Dear Friend

Shall I lie and play the coy maiden?
Shall I deny the contents of my heart?

I feel the love that flows between us
an underground river, a secret stream
Is it more than lust? oh so much more

For love and lust are entangled in ecstasy
between the sheets of poetic fantasy
where dances and dreams live

Where bold knights and fair ladies
bow to each other as the Allemande begins

Where unfeigned admiration alone
defeats the dark dragon of distance

Have no care that your beard is gray
or my copper strands laced with silver
Our hearts are young yet, our feet nimble

I want to feel your hands around my waist
The strength of your arms in each lift
while the fire of our eyes embrace

Mid bright torchlight of the great hall
or candlelit private chamber

Your mistress, your slave
or your equal... to lead or be led
it matters not which, to me

So dance with me, My Noble Knight
and swear to me your undying devotion
in a mystic moment of poetic passion
