Gentle Hearts

gentle, oh so gentle
the brush of my heart against yours
as though we have loved forever
countless times on other shores

life’s been building a mystery
beyond all our minds could think or see
we’re home again, it feels so right
touching you, touching me tonight


and all i need is to live once more
in the deepest part of your soul
and all i want is hold your heart
and keep it from the cold


some things we‘ll never escape
some loves we can never forget
sometimes all we have to do is wait
then rise above bitter regret

then just when you think it’s over
and you’ve lost what you needed the most
love comes knocking on your door
back from the shadows like a ghost


and all i need is in your eyes
and in the poetry passion starts
and all i want is to love you more
with each brushing of our hearts


life’s still building a mystery
working on you, working on me
time’s giving us a brand new start
and love’s still blending our two hearts

gentle, oh so gentle
the brush of your heart against mine
as though there had been no absence
as though we had lost no time
