he touched me in the shadows
and kissed me in the dark

“shhhhh”, he’d always whisper
whenever he imagined
someone might possibly solve
the mystery of my words

so my pen was shackled
by his fears and my foolishness

and my heart was imprisoned
in that damp dungeon
where dirty little secrets are kept
and second best loves locked up

where i shivered with the chill
of continued neglect

but you...you kiss me in sunlight
and worship my beauty
on pedestals in public places,

no fear, no secrets
no time to waste with worry
of what others may think of us

you pen for me verses of tender love
and scorching passion....undisguised

we dance in the daylight
on a sturdy stage built of dreams

you touch and heal each part of me
as you draw me out of the shadows
into your open arms

and patiently paint my portrait,
with sensual brushstrokes, unique colors
surrounded by the bright light of your love

you kiss me in sunlight
and make the shadows disappear

i wanna walk with you in the day
where the whole world can see
and i wanna kiss your lips
with all the love inside of me

so come away with me, at last
we’ll forget all the pain of the past

Sweet Love, come away,
if only for a day, come away with me

in the warm sunlight
