it’s as the sun waking the earth
with a warm dew-wet kiss
it’s like rain on the petals
of a fragrant but parched rose
when he cherishes her
it’s as though she’s a precious
heirloom jewel safely enclosed
in a delicately carved alabaster box
protected from unworthy eyes
when he adores her
like dark midnight clothes the moon
he wraps her in a soft cloak of black velvet
like a queen, she rises to receive
hand kisses from devotion’s lips
when he worships her
she becomes a goddess lifted high
on the pedestal built by his heart
where she rises above all things
that are less than extraordinary
when he touches her
she becomes a priceless work of art
a barefoot, wingless angel of sensuality
or a mischievous mermaid
swimming nude in a sea of lust
riding crashing waves of pleasure
when he loves her
she is more woman than he needs
or ever dreamed of having

I agree with all of the below reviews and think this is one of your finest, its soft sensuality permeats the air like Red and Scarlet did in the classic love story of the century..and this La Belle is a classic love poem. Very well done indeed... bravo
Its almost midnight, the candel in front of my old paper vacillates now and then by the air movement as I move the long feathered quill to review this poem.
The grandfather clock is tiptoeing somewhere, tick-tack-tick-tack and my glass of cherry is almost empty on this night of August 24 in the year of the Lord 1789 and in my ears still I have the music of a young fellow by the name of Beethoven.
WHEN HE LOVES HER, she should not be a jewell encased in an alabaster box, she should being a fresh rose touching is bare skin, to be smelled, kissed, caressed, never, but never a cold stone.
A few century from now maybe men will lose their heart and take a woman as a possession, or maybe are we the chivalty romantic ones.
WHEN HE LOVES HER should never become more woman than he needs.
The poem is magnificent!

minutes away from your posting again for some reason. I hope this is in "Cherished". This tune is from my favorite movie in 1980 and I've played it (i have the arrangement) play it some day. Great choice of words & music
