No One Dreams Like You

I thought of you today
the ever proper gentleman
the daring sensual lover

So far away yet close enough
to warm my heart

I pictured your boyish grin
and bare feet
as you posed in the garden

Then your most formal face
floating above your tight necktie
and well-fitted business suit

I offered,
“Let me make you comfortable”
as elegant fingers longed to loosen
tie and collar

And you asked “More than the tie,
more than the shirt?”

You said again... as you always do,
“Oh if I were only there”

And I said...as often I do
“But you aren’t here”

To which you replied,
“But if I were, we’d share a kiss
A warm, soft and tender kiss"

And I reminded you,
“But you can’t be here”

Your soft answer returned to me
“A man can dream”

“Yes, Dear One, he can,”
I whispered

You sighed....”Indeed”

Then you sent me a poem...again
I wept when I read it,
as I always do

For no one dreams like you
