Don't Hand Me No Lines....

Poem Artwork

Art 'Avoid Temptation'

*'Oh, my honey, my baby
Don't put my love upon no shelf
She said, 'Don't hand me no lines
And keep your hands to yourself.'

*From 'Keep Your Hands To Yourself'

Keep Your Words To Yourself
By La Belle Rouge

Once we were innocent, how many years ago?
Our hearts intact, people to know and places to go
Untouched by sweet love that bathes you in honey
And leaves you homeless, beat up with no money

Once we were so alive, running toward life full speed
Pollyanna romantics, thought love was all we’d ever need
Now we hide away in dark corners where no one can see
Don’t know who it's for but we pen passion's poetry

Got no time or patience for guessing games and word play
So just shut up Baby or say what you really wanna say
I been swimming in enough syurpy sexy poetry
To float a barge to Ole Erin on blarney’s deep green sea

Don't paint me no more pictures of full moons in June
And don't hand me no lies or sing me no tunes
Don't want no more sad songs or poetical trash
Just tell it like it is or you'll get your mouth mashed

Why don't you finally be truthful and cut all the poetic crap
You don’t want true love, you want me naked on your lap
I'm sick of wading though mixed metaphors and silly simile
just keep your words to yourself or be honest with me

Almond bitter words can be sugared with hidden intentions and false promises, but then again, who isn't a sucker for in the ear, whispered sweet little words...even if we knew they were a lie?

Well, at least Andy always comes out with it and shoots straight from the hip! ... But then, the straight words followed by the corresponding actions, and you've got... even more mayhem!???? I like this no-nonsense approach, Darlin. But for every one who we would like just to "spit it out", there's others who we'd rather not know, thank you very much... ??!! :)) Words, words, words... we can't live with 'em and we can't live without 'em... But you sure DO know how to use 'em! Don't EVER go keeping them to yourself, now... Love, K xx

You are right, Belle. Words, unsupported by action, are just words. Well done. Love and best wishes to you,

Words can be so powerful but I know what you mean. Sincerity and honesty make poems more than just words. Perception, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

It's fiction Karla, just feeling a little naughty. But straight talk is always best esp. after years of poetry LOL

The heart of a poet and romantic is often revealed in the very same ways for which they are loved...warm, tender, mysterious ah and most of all...tragic. Poets love drama. Great write La Belle...enjoyed and loved the picture one I can really relate to you for some reason.
