When You Write Of Love

when you write of romantic love
is any coldness allowed
to creep into your sensual mood
or to infringe upon poetic words?

the couple, love and lust
are betrothed, or should be

and what is love without
touch of flame, kiss of fire?
it is but an ember dying slowly
on a cold hearth of discontent

when you write of love
all your senses must live

feel the warmth of smooth skin
and red silk waterfall of my hair
falling down soft against your chest
inhale deeply my woman scent

can you pen it, this passion
in words that burn the page?

in kisses that meld breath
and suddenly solidify desire
this secret of the ages exposed
in your poetry of open craving

can you spread clenched thighs
with the tender force of your thoughts?

can you prime the pump of passion
with lips to waken a river and tongue
to taste the flavor of surrender
that lingers all night in your mouth?

vision my eyes afire, hear my moans,
inhale my perfume, touch me everywhere

do you taste me when you write of love?
