and blast the heart with artic wind
why let our souls become bereft
of some small boon of comfort?
of serene summer afternoon strolls
on jasmine covered riverbanks
of conversations on subjects
only poets would dare to broach
hands held, arms entwined
specter of a disapproving world
unable to enter our closed circle
winter snows too soon extinguish
the blazing fires of summer love
why deny ourselves embraces
and tender moonlight kisses
the kind that softly whisper
“i understand and love you anyway”?
travel the world, love many others
but you will never again find
this unpretentious merging of souls
this reality that breathes life
into eternal fantasy revived in time
Those winter's snows can't extinguish blazing fires that never were left to ignite. Monogamous swans will die alone even if they never found their other half...
Maybe better that way.

As the first frost of winter kisses the last green grass of summer we will warm our souls in each other's eyes. I havent' the foggiest idea where that came from but it was what came to mind after reading your poem.
