On Your Shore
By La Belle Rouge

A Double Sonnet

If you should hear the siren’s song
From rocks far beyond your reach
Would you linger? tell me how long
Before your heart could teach
Your mind to let go of control
Slip smooth into forgotten dream?
What would you sell if doubt be sold
How foolish to you would it seem
To crave a kiss from unknown lips
Painted crimson with love’s delight
Soft upon your questing fingertips
Or bright fireworks in dark night?
Would you brave waves of can not be
To swim across impossibility’s sea?

If seduction be laid upon your shore
Like a mermaid cast up from the sea
Would you want for proof of more
Than the arms that welcome thee?
Would you dance to the melody
Of the sensual siren’s song
Or would you fearful, doubtful be
‘Til she ceased to sing ere long?
Would you chance the hurricane
To embrace the calm beyond
Hear the whisper of your name
Before your opportunity is gone?
Would you risk being lost at sea
To lie on the beach at last with me?

... together with the music... I'm done for! Like Alice, I shall drown in the sea of my own tears. This is your beautiful heart at it's beautiful best, Belle. Inexpressibly, irrepressibly lovely. TY Kate xx

Stunning and with so much passion, I can almost see the lover looking down on the mermaid with want but also a fear of giving his heart to somthing that cannot be...or can it.

Swimming fast, too fast to get lost in that impossibility seas, because as the arms are pushing forward the heart as commanded the lost of all control...because on that shore isn't Circe the Siren waiting in the beach but a nymph made of dreams.
