once....in heated days of youth
I could settle for nothing less
than moonlight madness and fire
illuminating indigo midnights
when winter’s frost lay heavy
on the window panes and warm
breath mingled in words of love
now I would be content to trace
the lines of your face with fingers
that remember each beloved crevice
and my lips would leave upon yours
a gentle kiss, reveries’sweet taste
of what was shared between us
once....in heated days of youth
So beautifully tender and atmospheric, Belle. I am sunshine girl, except for moments like this: the log cabin effect with snowdrifts piled high against window panes. Totally gorgeous romance and realism here. Of course, the wonderful thing about the ageing process is that there will be more beloved lines and crevices to explore and hopefully more leisure in which to do it... Youth may have vigour, but maturity brings with it the advantages, perhaps, of more memories, more pleasure. Love this nostalgia that nurtures the now. As always, flawless. Kate xx
"In heated days of youth". What remembrences the words bring forth: The taste of the first kiss; the thrill of the first secret touch, the warming to the heart the sound of the first, "I love you!" This really touched my heart, LaBell.
