Memoirs Of A Vampiress Written In Sonnet Form

Lisette's Journal Part 16
By La Belle Rouge

Oh monstrous fate I must embrace,
there was no other course to take.
All warmth had left without a trace.
No heart beat in my chest to break.
The possession of a master dark
a mere puppet on his bloody string
of compassion left not one spark
I am but an insidious undead thing .
Around my neck a crucifix worn
since I was a little child of three.
While in flight from my neck torn
he had cast it below far from me.
Every tatter of god from me gone
this ancient coffin my only home.

He held me fast against his chest
as face to face we finally slept.
Not the faintest beating in my breast
all my vain tears had been wept.
And I knew in this unnatural sleep
would be the only rest I’d ever find.
No use to mourn or endeavor to weep
all my humanity must be left behind .
No sweetness of dreams to ease the rift
between the existence of living and dead.
No prayers unspeakable burden to lift.
No pleasant distractions in my head.
Only the cold fetid breath we share
his gaunt fingers entwined in my hair.

Belle,
"...an insidious undead thing" certainly sets mood and tone in this return to the journals. Dark and sad and chilling and so very well written, you know exactly how to handle this and the impact is has on the reader.

Only through Lisette's Journal do we learn about some of the mysteries of the night, as seen by her...vivid and oh so intriguing!
Well penned, La Belle

My Zombie Bride, you don't need to be sad as you go around my dungeon gardens plucking blossomed sorrows with pain thorns cos i will be always your fetid one, the one that entwines his gaunt fingers in your unwashed and tangled hair!!!

And the adventure is underway. I liked the sonnet style for the telling of this story. The verses deepened Lisette's plight as she comes to understand that whatever was before now, it is no longer and she is fated for the living dead. It seems she is trying to make peace with reality, or rather unreality. Good.

Been a long time since we've seen Lisette. Chillingly penned, La Belle, especially,

" ... every tatter of god from me gone ..."

Excellent write.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Good to hear from Lisette again; very well penned, Belle, and the piccy is visually arresting!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
