Was the warmest spring in twenty years
the day you said goodbye and sailed away
and the loneliness
was a knife piercing deep my aching heart
as I strolled the widow’s walk twice daily
Once at dawn‘s calling, once at twilight
Never has your ship
come into my expectant view, even though
you promised you would return before snow
December blew in like a ravenous lion
stalking my every comforting thought
devouring all my hope
Like a foreign army intent on conquest
disarming my arsenal of anticipation
December cold and unkind, as icy snow
pelted the coastline
And I, a ghost haunting the widow’s walk
straining heart and eyes to glimpse you
The light house casts abroad her welcome
Candles beckon, gleaming in every window
Come home My Captain
Come home and warm by our fire again
Bring with you the blushed Spring of hope
Spiced, mulled cider waits for your lips
as do my fingertips
my lips and soft pillows of my breasts
Come home and unwrap your Christmas gift
Belle, if he can't make it, I will -- an invitation from a lonely heart opining, a woman longing for her lover's embrace -- let me know if he doesn't make it -- peace and love to you my dear friend --Jon Michael
Dear Susan, This was a very beautiful piece of writing. I do not know how any one can resist you. I may have already done so but again, Have a very Blessed Christmas. Stay well, and stay sweet too.
GOD BLESS YOU WITH LOVE
