The Signature Of Love
By La Belle Rouge

A Love Sonnet

Forever carved in broken hearts
The scarlet signature of love
Though lovers must endure apart
Celestial angels up above
Look down in silent sympathy
On their spirits sad and torn
And shine upon them empathy
For the oath they yet have sworn
To memories they steadfast cling
Like sailors from a sinking ship
While reveries some comfort bring
As into love’s sweet dreams they slip
And pray their hearts will mended be
When beyond the gates, each other see

I and my lover of a lifetime look to the fulfillment of the promise we make to each other every night: "I'll wait for you at Heaven's Door." It is our own signature of love and devotion.

Thank you, Poetess Of The Heart, for bringing me to tears with the sheer beauty of your words and music.

If I didn't left my heart in San Francisco...somebody found it somewhere and carved letters on it, now too far away for my feeble eyes to read.

A beautiful poem, Belle. It expresses wishful and prayerful sentiments that are most apt for those who love. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Blimey, Red. This sonnet just flows like a clear stream.

To memories they steadfast cling
Like sailors from a sinking ship <---great line.

You handle the form effortlessly, LaBelle, and with grace and style...not an easy thing to do...and feeling is never neglected or relegated.
In admiration.
