please don’t bring me roses
not even the yellow ones I love
bring me lilies, water lilies
the kind that rest on tranquil lakes
and greet the moon at twilight
with the fragrance of open petals
and the promise of sleeping mysteries
don’t bring me your passion alone
not even the kind that melts my heart
bring me the benevolence of your love
the honesty of your thoughts
the sweetness of your company
the affection that withstands time
and fuses two souls together in empathy
I am a lily, parched in the sun
waiting for the cool indigo night
to open my soul like a poetic flower
for the one who seeks me there
lingering in the tranquility of twilight
divested of the frivolities of life
held securely in arms of his acceptance
Very beautiful and from the heart. A lovely lilly awaiting for the coolness of the night to come and to open its petals in the tranquiltiy of his arms. Love it. George AKA THE WISE OLD OWL
What a lovely, visual and well penned poem this is! A lily, parched in the sun, to be made moist only by the touch of his love. Splendid imagery. Joy Hale
I thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully written piece. To me, it speaks of a love that goes far beyond the surface and the physical passions...one that is content to just be held securely in loving arms of total acceptance.
The night was magic and her moves orchestrated by the moon. Love glowed radiantly upon the lake of drifting souls. Belle, your pen knows the mystics' touch and greets the mind with an opening salvo of creative passions. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael
Glorious poem!
"the honesty of your thoughts/the sweetness of your company/the affection that withstands time/and fuses two souls together in empathy" speaks it all, whether friend or lover.
I'm in sheer awe of your writing.
Blessings,
Christine
