The Gold Locket
By La Belle Rouge
An ornate locket round her neck she wore
and hidden between its two sides of gold
lay a lock of hair from the one who swore
his true undying love of both body and soul.
Between her ample breasts it rose and fell
with each effortless breath she breathed
and no matter if she lived in heaven or hell
to him her devotion she forever bequeathed.
The Laird of the castle was angry and austere
and oft her tears his harsh words did solicit
but she left behind long ago her girlish fear
delighting in secret love so delicious but illicit.
No outward vow could ever inwardly destroy
her love and lust for the dark Spanish Moor
The Laird of the castle was fair of hair and skin
with bright eyes that were a piercing, lapis blue
and his fair lady trembled…. for now and again,
she feared her dark secret The Laird surely knew.
Next to warm heart the shiny lock quietly nestled
as black as a Spanish Moor’s eyes filled with lust
and with fantasy and reality The Lady oft wrestled
but give her love to the Moor she knew she must.
For he was the one whose midnight whispers soft
awakened the woman sleeping deep in her soul.
She felt the heat of his lips ‘neath her bodice oft
and knew what she felt was a touch known from old.
When The Laird went to war, she opened her door
welcomed into her bedchamber the beautiful Moor.
Moonlight through window caressed her white skin
warm gold candle glow kissed her burgundy hair
and if castle walls could talk they could not begin
to tell of carnal pleasures they had witnessed there.
He kissed The Lady breathless with lips of wild fire
as her robe slipped with a swish to cold stone floor.
The Moor alone could push her past edge of desire
as from lofty heights she fell into pleasure’s core.
So from passion’s chalice they drank well their fill
without caring if the next day’s sun should ever rise.
Only the Dark Moor could bring her to such a thrill
as she swam naked in dark pools of his ebony eyes.
And when the Spanish Moor left with the morning light
she held the locket in her hand remembering the night
To discover "The Gold Locket" series you are writing thrills my romantic heart no end! So elegantly written, so full of the lady's fear to be caught, all very exciting. You write this saga so beautifully that I find I must read more! Penned so lovingly by the poetess of the heart who knows much of romantic persuits!
Belle, I see the passion risen to take control of your muse and pen in this classically presented work. There is a border of gold about your words that matches the gold locket. Others have given you proper praise for this fine work that I sincerely add my concurrence to. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael
I HAD TO COME BACK TO THE BEGINNING...THE LAST THREE I READ WERE COMPELLING ME TO DO SO...A WONDERFUL JOURNEY. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Where fantasy and dreams meet, there the Moor and his blonde-skinned Lady will forever be, living out their days within the secrets of an enduring gold locket. No-one weaves beauty, mystery and love in the ways that you do, Belle. Another classic La Rouge. xx Effortless and timeless.
Craft there be, Belle, fine fine craft
and fine passion and storytelling, i see

Belle, such a joy to read this carefully crafted lines.
Writers don't seem to write in the classic sonnet today,
but you have mastered the form in marvelous rhythm and rhyme.
Congratulations. In admiration, gene.
The flamenco rhythm strikes favor within the heart of the Spanish Moor and just like the breeze that captures this dance of love within the plucked strings cry, the romantic interlude envelops the soul as easily as the body sways to its allure.

What a transformative, impressive, meaningful work!
It is romantic to perfection, yes, but those reading are sparked to ask the hard quesions as if this poetry is also somehow a channel for a reader to experience their longings :)
Blessings,
Christine
My chest heaves with a heavy breath that inhaled the passion that stays locked in a locket. I love this forbidden love and what a night they had. Wonder what appeared in 9 months? Oh well. Belle, no one writes these historical love stories like you do. Bravo. Write on. Love it. Liz
A tantalizing tale of olde, with the taste of infidelity that's often occurs with stately marriages and opposites attract. A joy to read. You are the mistress of romance.
You tell one hell of a good story, Belle! Fantastic writing; brava!

These sonnets wasn't dashed off because you needed a poem in a hurry. The work that went into them are as breathtaking as the poems themselves. To write such as you have using olden verse (I'm particularly fond of sonnets, in fact I was writing one when I checked this out) is pure desire on your part. I know you are a romantic to the core, Belle, and I see Poetess Of The Heart La Belle Rouge in each and every line. This is pure, unadulterated passion and lust and I enjoyed it to the nth, and hope you will continue the obsession of "The Gold Locket."
