His Heart

we discuss issues, great and small
earthy and esoteric topics alike
challenge our intellects, satisfying
our need to learn and to teach

he never considers me inferior
not intellectually or intuitively

when I look deeply into his eyes
I am transported to other times
and I am wrapped in a coverlet
of steadfast love and admiration

his eyes, how they captivate me
and give me hope for new lives

when I reach for him in the night
when he lovingly pulls me close
the scent of his skin, so masculine
invites me to share all his nights

the clean scent of a real man
draws my fingers to caress him

when his warm lips capture mine
I am lost in a moment magnificent
as we linger there, in open kisses
the world fades into nothingness

his lips are my sweet healing balm
and my fleshly gates to paradise

when I lay my head on his chest
and listen to his noble heartbeat
I know there is one thing in life
I can depend on, with no doubt

his honest heart beats for me
as surely as mine does for him
