Being loved this way
by a man like you
brought my tears today
tears of joy, tears of hope
tears that I don't care
if the whole world sees
I'm cradled in God's love
and in your love and that's
what keeps me alive
I do believe God leaves me here
just for you to cherish
Great Loves are never forgotten
even in celestial realms
haunting, this sacred bond
of one soul living in two bodies
thoughts read before spoken
a ring of fire devouring all but
that which is impossible to destroy
unforgettable your loving whispers
your touch, your kisses on my skin
yes God leaves me here, facing
all the hell we must walk through
just to display love to the world

And I think of all the possibilities where love is found and what sustains it.
Rare are such loves.But they are the only loves that endure forever. There can be no greater reward than to be the recipient or giver of a love so great. Let's hope God leaves you here for a long time to display such a love.

It's interesting that you picked Johnny and June Carter Cash for your illustration. He was the one who suffered so much, primarily through his alcoholism while his wife propped him up and then suddenly died when her heart gave out before his several ailments took him.
I relate Susan, very much so. You penned a soulful poem of love shared, given and received. I felt each line to the depths of my heart. Thank you for this, as I said, I relate.
