Vibrancy

By Jon Michael & Susan Willey

when first I knew love, it was not
with rose kissed, unwrinkled cheeks
and supple, firm body alive with youth
I beheld you not with eyes un-faded
touched you not with smooth hands
that had not borne the labors of life

my prime passed, I would never bear
sweet children conceived by our love
would that we could have shared that
eternal bond of sons and daughters
my smile had been in hiding…. until you
my laughter buried in a torrent of tears
you uncovered it, set it free on the wind
where you captured it within your hands
and held it close to your heart and soul

we think we know love and understand it
but until it arrives we only know shadows
specters of substance between soul mates
when love consumes us with all its power
inconsequential are our youth or maturity
where we are and what we have known
become pale in the vibrancy of real love
love is the only reality that will survive
through every lifetime and into eternity

I CAN RELATE, MY FRIEND. WHAT A HONORED BOW YOU HAVE RENDERED TO THAT RICH AND FRAGRANT, AND CERTAINLY PRICELESS...GIFT OF LOVE! A TOUCHING OFFERING EXPOSING A TREASURE THAT IS NEVER UNREACHABLE BUT ALWAYS THERE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EARNESTLY SOUGHT AND ARE BLESSED TO FIND IT. BRAVO AND, AMEN! LOVE,BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Our natural born love was meant to continue the species by bringing young people together through personal selection to have children. There was no guarantee of that love continuing and it often didn't.

But you have written of a higher love. A love born of necessity where two people find that their needs match perfectly by another. When that happens, in the words of the marriage ceremony… "Nothing can put it asunder."

May this magic love you have for one another carry you through the rest of your lives.

This is a lovely poem that speaks VOLUMES about your marriage. Yes, it should be until death due us part. Yes, this is our way as well. May your BEST years be ahead, and blessings overflow your marriage with happiness and peace. Amen

Many of us write of love, often giving it an imagined reality, wanting not to see a bubble pop. In this rendering of love's essence, there is wisdom and both religious and secular value... not an easy accomplishment. As you spoke of love finding its maturity only after disappointments with previous efforts was courageous. Giving literary value to love, mature love, is a task many of us... myself included attempt with various results. Your quintessential grouping of text was in the last line, where you provide unique imagery of love... it is a state of reality, not necessarily housed in an object. An object, a man or woman is a vessel capable of "being in love with you," i.e., two people finding love as a state of mind and heart needing not a particular object to bestow such feelings on, but experiencing a realm reserved for few. Although, having a partner to share it with, well, that is truly icing on the cake. Kudos.
