Poem Artwork

I opened my soul
to you
like sunflowers
bloom
embracing the light
and consuming spirit like
air.

I need your love to
survive
gulping like
a heathen in church
when denied
the sustenance of
your enveloping presence.

Breathing your essence
invigorates me
gives life to cells
deadened by
junk food poison
imbibed in the attempt
to keep a cold heart
beating
a dead man
walking.

Frozen like tundra
thawing only under
the relentless burn of
an ice-age sun
scorching thin air and
releasing
a gaseous bounty
heating cold souls
in the dark of
night.

Okay, these wonderful words should be said to God. Do I commit blasphemy when I wish a man would say them to me? Astounding, Mark.
