To live in the insidious bubble that perpetuates fantasy at the expense of living life in all its threatening splendor is truly a questionable choice.

Bubbledom
by Odin Roark
How frothy
That first taste
When some upper layer
Seems the treat d’ jour
Whether in big business
Big politics
Big Hollywood
Or Wall Street
Aspirations to be part of that bubble
Prove anything but frothy
How seductive the connection
To feel complete
Without threat from the outside
Without knowledge of collateral lives
Such an existence
Seemingly insulated from jeopardy
Ignores outside reality
Shuns cognizance of truth
Lines swell
Vicarious pursuit grows
So many now crowd inside the bubble
That never pops
Until it does
Seemingly insulated from jeopardy
Ignores outside reality
Shuns cognizance of truth
Sounds just like our pompous, without a clue, living in a bubble, so called 'leaders' today. "We're shutting down the government because the people want us to!"
The largest bubble I see is the ballooning human population… reaching unsustainable, unless relieved by most of the inhabitants leaving the planet Earth for the solar system.
And the most vulnerable of all? The bubble called New York City, its spires about to poke a hole in its sources of sustenance. NYC's life blood can be cut off very easily and all would either have to flee or die.
All of the long gone ancient civilizations and cities bear testimony to many bubbles that burst in the past.
As always, a very thoughtful write.
