In the world of creative accomplishment, why must the spoils of fame and fortune so often trump the work itself? The fortunate know that the “work’s persuasiveness” is all that matters, that any name left behind (often a curse of notoriety) is just that...a name. (Image by Moreaux)

Creation’s Anonymous Persona
by Odin Roark
Thriving on integrity’s forest of abundance,
anonymity revels in the subtlety of consciousness,
that ever-present growth of shadow and light,
faithfully providing solace for vision’s weariness,
even as the invading blight of wanton armies,
strips the branches of protection and respite.
.
How covetous these purveyors of control,
knowingly deceptive in granting innovation autonomous growth,
convincing the gullible that a greener forest
awaits them on the other side.
Such is the vulnerable nature
of creativity’s landscape to discovery,
decaying into a wasteland of what once was,
all to satiate the parasitic appetite of what will be.
How poisonous this scorching onslaught,
evaporating originality’s endless tears and sweat
into a suffocating mist of entrapment,
the perpetual fog of acquiescence,
burying the once unbridled need to imagine,
into a mere landfill of prideless waste,
forsaken of candlelight’s magic,
exhaustion’s encouragement,
and the once indestructible smile of self-worth.
Such may become the legacy of
creation’s anonymous persona.
