Fist and Mouth Disease

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

BE WARNED – Some might be offended by this impulsive reaction to the daily “Breaking News” headlines where "on the stump" political snake oil sales continues to mount. Below is merely the characterization of a point of view and is not designed to convert those who do not agree, but to defend those that do. ----- Perpetuation of LIES comes in many sizes, but for one of questionable worth, it is best expressed as an over-inflated, self-aggrandized and huuuuge demented ego. “Sublime to forgive?" Perhaps, but what must come first is the purging of poison that has continually bombarded us from this carnival barker of misanthropy guised as glad-handed compliments; “you’re such great people,” and from the New York Post of 3/6/16, “‘We have to beat the savages’ Trump says more torture needed to beat ISIS.”

Poem Artwork
Fist and Mouth Disease
by Odin Roark

An infected slice of the pie.

The sluggishness of whole milk yogurt,
the density of a rock,
the stubbornness of a non-stick fry pan,
such is the dish being fed to a populous of '
political junk-food-aficionados,
mental dietary for only the gluttonous.

You all know who you are,
aboard this hubris wanton fantasy ride
galloping ever forward for misbegotten pleasures
while folds of narcissistic comb-over ego
flubbercates your minds.

You who would echo "make everything great again"
you who would chase after carrots of fools gold on a stick
forgetting that all such chases go round and round
a circular course of deception.

Yes, you who know better,
turning fear mongering over and over
in your sauce pan du jour,
need to step away from the overly stoked flames of influence
and run away from the stove about to roil and explode,
for what goes ‘round always comes ‘round.

Having researched your insatiable appetites,
those of fact-checking minds prefer non-poisonous nourishment
over the refined junk-food-rhetoric you’re ingesting,
a cancerous induction into the DTs
as your addiction remains out of control.

Yeah, Sparkies,
trust in such cowardly grade school tantrums
bodes implosions of your own making,
and rest assured,
it's only a matter of time before
the archaeologists of Reason and Rationale
will unearth your inevitable burial
to be placed alongside
the other archival heaps
of history’s sludge also once
of deceitful power and greed.

If only…

A “Law of Reason” alert
could to be tweeted to the many
caught up in this wish-bone epidemic,
this self-destructive fist and mouth disease
destined to detonate and completely destroy
civility and the common good.

Unless…

Your analogies are wildly imaginative and drive home your points with hammered precision. Unfortunately, the great unwashed are overly tired of tiptoeing over political politeness and find a "flubbercating" bi-furcating pout mouth meets their bigoted desires to lay damage to their fears. Fortunately, and unfortunately for him, his rabid followers are actually a diminishing minority. And even more fortunately, he doesn't know it by looking at his "polls" of the faithful.

Yes, on the right the choice is between a flubbercating bloviator and a thoroughbred disciple of deceit. Yuk.

Flubbercate? . . . oh my God, where is my dictionary. You are losing me. But what a word fest (feast), hoping from one to the other like stones across the river. I am not offended at all; au contraire as the French say, I am with you, as I watch from the distance, fascinated and horrified at the same time. The detachment that comes with distance is a little scary because what you describe is happening in my own country. I have my own wish bone but not for the likes you describe. John
