From Where?

When one’s candle runs the risk of finally burning itself out, one begins thinking of certain reflections waiting for the right moment.

Poem Artwork
From Where?
By Odin Roark

From where comes this breath of confidence?
From where appears the abstract image of mortality?
From where sounds the quiet voice reminding one of the power of the inner voice?
From where does the trusted touch of a surgeon’s hand bestow hope
as you count backward from 10 to 0.

And moments before awakening from 4 hours on the operating table
from where does the kaleidoscopic vision of places unknown
swirl its vortex of energy, imparting the knowledge
that one’s life is still intact?

Perhaps for some,
there are answers.

For this fortunate person,
there are but more questions.

From where might the eternal existence of atoms
find its next iteration?

Mortality.

The waiting game of life’s energy,
often a humble place of gratefulness.

I sought inspiration and I found it. It doesn't surprise me that it came from you ...only that I didn't think to look here sooner.

Someone once told me , all you have are the memories you've created . I hope not, those are good and bad. I'd like to think there are bonds formed between the ones we love that can never be broken no matter . Glad I caught your post!

Yes, the event horizon is that interface between the universe as we know it, and a black hole about which we know essentially nothing. Welcome back from the grip of eternity, and to a segment of it that has sorely missed your insights and your wisdom. May your recovery be fast, your health restored, and all of us the better for it.

Indeed, there is nothing like a life-threatening experience to lead us to the brink, to the horizon, then back again, smiling. Earlier today, I went to your site to look for clues as to your whereabouts. Then this poem shows up in my inbox. It really is about time. Welcome back, even if you are raising more unanswereable questions. John

I see this as an epiphany from a whole new experience. We are at a point in the course of humankind where fatal conditions can be remedied by a simple four hour procedure. Allowing us to continue along life's way for a bit longer. I'm told that by 2050, it might be a lot longer.

Welcome back!

Ron
