Poem Artwork
Facing One’s Face
by Odin Roark

Living with the face we get
starts with amoretto cheeks
beneath storybook eyes,
silken strands draped across the brow,
curious noses,
innocent lips.

Upon canvases of reality
strokes the brush of time,
dipping constantly from honesty’s palette.
layering change upon change.

Colors…
some untainted,
others muddy.

Drying.

Cracking.

Flaking.

Reflections unavoidable.

One’s personal artwork
will one day retire to Life’s attic,
that place where sheltered memories
need not mirrors anymore.

One remembers expressions for their own sake
understands “lifts” and “Botox” make but wannabe masks,
reserved for manufactured make-believe happiness.

There is wisdom in these words because the natural shaping of youth's sexually attractive beauty into the character of a lifetime is wonderful to behold in itself.

On the other hand, a little bit of nipping here, tucking there seems to have made Dolly Parton into a wonderful person (she is paying $2000 a month to every family in her county who lost their home or job until they get back on their feet).

A lot of people I know have had alterations done to their faces and bodies and think these things will change their lives. Thing is, they still have the same attitudes working against them. Those attitudes are what needed changing. Great write!!!

Love ya!

yes, people for ages love to play with others by means of make-up, garments and tattoo, pretending they have done such things for themselves. Exposing and advertising are in our blood. Cheers, alex

The face says it all. Physiognomy is a kind of hidden science that few people are adept at. John
