LIstening to the Light

To know the fusion of sight and sound as one sensorial experience
is to know a mystery few pursue. (Image by Pond5)

Poem Artwork
Listening to the Light

I once saw a movement,
a teardrop moving up from below,
a weeping trying so hard to be heard
that when I asked to listen,
the sound rendered me blind with its white light.

Where does one go in the sightless pure color of white
whether it be sadness, joy,
or something in between?

Perhaps closing one’s eyes,
venturing back to the dark
where in one’s unique quiet solace
white’s rainbow-light is visible.

Such colors of sound,
whose joyful crescendo can be heard
coming from the distance,
where sadness of diminuendo cries to not be lost,
to always be available to those
who can see the sound of the past,
understand the song of the present,
anticipate with clarity
the music of the future.

Strange, but true …

Listening to the light
is to know love’s beckoning.

Oh, my.
Oh, my.

In the beginning, "Let there be light", E=Mc2, light is the backbone of the workings of the universe!

Since both sound and light are defined by wavelength and cycles they could very well be on the continuum of the very same thing.

I do recall either videos, and even perhaps, some rather expensive devices that would take music and turn it into a psychedelic, changing image that mimicked the music quite well. These devices came out of the 60s psychedelic movement where people wanted to look at images that paralleled the music they were listening to when they didn't have the benefit of an hallucinogen to do it with their mind's eye.

I believe your poem is in the realm of the mind's eye.

Sebelius never had an instrument in his house. He heard the notes by seeing colors. As I read your words, I thought of him. Beautiful write!

Love ya!
