In a political season picking up steam with certain voter rights targeted to be held hostage, gerrymandering continues to be a GOP top priority. Such ancestral rights and struggle deserves more. And yes, “Black Panther” most likely deserves awards for just helping level the playing field in a way no other modern creative experience for the underprivileged and continued victims of prejudice has had the opportunity to realize with hope in an energized and entertaining way. C’mon… everyone plays a little bit with being a super hero, right? (Image by Cardiff Student Media)

Looking, Yet Not Seeing
A mother of swirling black smoke bore you,
Bundled in burlap
Atop burning earth's dust bowl.
Before you…
A life of sweat tainted tobacco leaves and cotton bales
Shrouded in Panama hats of “Mas’er man’s” hate-filled acrid air.
While above...
Were only your father's cries of mercy,
Filling the grit dense clouds,
As Jim Crow rode the thunder,
Looking down to make more the same,
More swaddling to face a miscreant society.
Still…
Painfully,
Some of us
Considering history,
Peer skyward,
See the many blind eyes,
Instead of stars,
And remind ourselves
The past always sends forward its remains
To be a haunting presence,
Challenging us to see
Beyond merely looking,
What this country is still pitifully dealing with.
Love ya!

Schooling will close the penitentiary's doors, and lead us to understand that we are The Human Race.
This is a striking piece to activate the dynamo of consciousness, and to cerebration on Justice.
"Looking, Yet Not Seeing" makes one see, and leads one to think on the reality of our societies.
Viva the Poet!
