Dream Magic

- Is it possible we try to forget, rather than consider the lasting importance of our most distant dreams?

Poem Artwork

Dream Magic

How arrives such moments
Those glimpses
When consciousness first realizes
Amidst the elusive dreams of a child
That place of castles and warriors
Princesses and silken hair
Always subjected to a blank slate
On awakening

Later

Dreams seem accessible
We rush to write them down
Speak them on the couch
Beg reflection to arouse
Imagination’s past
Into future’s truth
That place
Where swollen heat
Moistens into Nature’s tears
Encouraging heart’s fantasies
To irrigate arid stagnation from the mind

Why do many
Far too many
Condemn fragile epiphanies
As wasted Time

How sad
Such avoidance

Aging’s gracious invitation
Often left to only grieve those
Ignoring such long ago
Childhood dreams
Knowing not
Time’s ethereal desire
Is to revisit
Its most intimate past

Strange

Some never learn
How to accept unrealized dreams
While others know well
Why the magic never disappears…

Really

Oh, Odin, this is so beautiful and inward looking! It is so sweet to slip through those rare cracks and realize our dreams! It's magical!

Love ya!

To irrigate arid stagnation from the mind. I really liked that line. I wish I could remember more of my dreams, but most fade away all to quick. Dream on, dream on.

Your "fragile epiphanies" are so much more than wasted time. Perhaps old ago helps us to realize that dreams have a place, even if they don't come true. And that's why "the magic never disappears. . . "
