Hourglass Evolving

Poem Artwork

Hourglass Evolving

Given up, rendered free, shells once of safety's cover,
now empty by scouring ebbs of time.

Tide-speckled beach, like once live shrapnel of wars past, now but broken respite,

awaiting tenacity’s further retreat, even as the tides arouse my sorrow, their icy salvation liquidizing,
arousing  awake the disquieted nightmare as consciousness treads water with otherness of truth’s deliverance.

Why

this

 time,

this place,

this pronouncement

of everything lost?

Conscience struggles

confronting the froth of ignorance,

refusing to be broken or exhausted,
awaiting the sea's foamy edges to once again

carry echoes of whispered battle cries of courage.

Such is life, once held tight, now but an hourglass turned topsy
anticipating the essence of matter’s forever's journey of survival.

Your words reflect the thoughts, I'm sure, of so many........say, maybe, our disgust! Our poor sea creatures put up with our nonsense. I wonder if there is a beach somewhere where our thoughts wash up onto? You always get me thinking, Odin!!

Love ya!

Jane
