Notwithstanding…
What is out there is integrity
those colors of our inner being at will,
that sometimes takes our hand,
that sometimes drags us across their rusted yesterday,
daring us to coalesce with their future.
What is out there
that waits in the darkness for us to falter,
that thinks our will is but a matter of time,
that marvels at the pain we'll willingly endure?
What is out there
that is so patient
as to sleep while we run,
to laugh as we cry
to wait with outstretched hand
as our thinking becomes a skeptical crawl
searching for the truth?
Wanting to believe in factuality is also out there
somewhere in the illusory world.

I have always been a maverick, and an outsider, confident in my own self and thinking. But to be a politician, one must give up that maverick spirit and join a party, get funding from that party and its heavily moneyed source, and then stick pretty much to the party line for fear of losing your cushy job as a representative of more people than you can shake hands with. And then, embrace the riches that subtly come as a form of bribery while you look the other way.
So, like you, I will stay outside of party and party line and tell it like it is. Drawing fire from those who are already sheep at the trough they think feeds them.
Keep up the brilliant outsider thinking… I will try to understand from my simplistic point of view.
