Thinking we have answers can be lonely. Perhaps only unanswered questions hold the resolution. (Image by ohmedgroup)

Poem Artwork

Closure’s Patience

Once
the what of lonely was asked
why this heart was feeling tired
worn out
fatigued?

Are flowers
no longer to open their petals
and skies to remain gray and void of love's colors?

The what of lonely invoked the dialectic with
might this loneliness be but the result of passion unanswered
regrets unheard
apologies rejected
tearfulness making peace with self?

With but for a caress...

Could lonely be more than a word of sadness?

Might it be but closure’s patience?

Questioning gathered its shadows and disappeared
leaving behind a contemplation
moving precariously
beneath a cosmic mother
peering through infinity

to a dawning sky emerging

Could be interpreted in several ways. I am content with my life right now and have reached closure so that I can leave at any time, content. Partly because, back when passion raged, it took me learning to reach closure, and immerse myself in nature (at a nearby wilderness state park) when love came knocking on my door without my asking.

But in ways, I worry about those millennials coming to closure in this century with all that they will face. Already, I am seeing tremendous job turnaround, sometimes within a year with all of the turmoil and financial worry, along with forced moving that leads to marital breakup. And then, the sunset that grows warmer every year with the subsequent challenge to all humanity to change or perish.

Oh, what I would give to see "a dawning sky emerging"!
From where I'm standing, it would appear that "Closure's Patience" is infinite. x
